摘要: Air motors have been generally applied in the automation industry. Since air motors operate without electricity, they will not produce sparks, explosions or short circuit phenomenon. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the behavior of a ball screw table actuated by a piston air motor and design a hybrid (backstepping and fuzzy) sliding mode controller for accomplishing accurate position performance. The experimental results validate the proposed position control strategy. ► We develop a model of piston air motor system and analyze the behaviors of a ball screw table. ► The contribution is to combine backstepping design and fuzzy logics for accurate performance. ► The fuzzy logics were developed to modify one of the backstepping controller variables. ► The hybrid controller would keep a better transient response and decrease chattering. ► The experimental results validate the proposed position control strategy.
