English is the most popular foreign language in Taiwan. Understanding vocabulary is very important for learning a new language, but it is very difficult for general learners [1] [4]. L2 learners may use tools to help learning English vocabulary , such as dictionary website, electronic dictionary, or E-learning System. But tools, such as E-learning and electronic dictionary, suffer some defects:(1)E-learning: It can’t support learners to learn vocabulary on Off-line.(2)Electronic dictionary: If you don’t continue to upgrade the contents, you can’t use new contents or resources. It can’t record learning portfolio for personal learner. The Wikipedia provides any user to edit all contents in the website, and accumulate community wisdom and knowledge to help people understand more domain knowledge. We call this style of content generation and sharing as Wiki-Styled. The thesis will discuss Wiki-Styled concept and add personal tag to extend original Wiki-Styled resources, personalize and classify community resource for specifically community’s members, and help users can quickly get personal data, organize personal contents and reuse organize Wiki-Styled contents to become Personal Wiki. The thesis use the Personal Wiki to implement a vocabulary learning system: myVLS, and use Personal Wiki accumulate community knowledge and support On-line/Off-line mechanism to help learner can continue on Off-line, and synchronize learning portfolio and learning resource on On-line. The myVLS is divided into two parts: myVLS_Client Appication & myVLS_Server. The thesis designed a General Personal Wiki Data Service to solve myVLS_Client Application running on On-line/Off-line and synchronize learning resource, personal learning portfolio and get shared resources of community.
