摘要: We calculate the polarized triply differential cross sections of bremsstrahlung from atoms with atomic number Z = 13 and 79 for incident electrons of low kinetic energy T1 = 1 and 5 keV. It is an exact nonrelativistic calculation in a partial-wave formulation. In the nonrelativistic theory, all the polarization correlations between the incident electron, the emitted photon and the recoiled electron vanish except those related to photon polarization, namely, bremsstrahlung can be used as a source of polarized radiation. Our results show that the shape of the polarized triply differential cross sections are asymmetric for recoiled electrons, as expected also for elastic electron scattering from atoms, while symmetric for emitted photons, just as the shape of the unpolarized triply differential cross sections. The atomic-electron screening effect on these cross sections is more important for higher Z elements and lower T1 cases. When the Coulomb parameter is large, the nonrelativistic Born approximation is not good, as expected.
