    Title: COSMIC資料驗證與短期天氣及氣候預報用研究計畫

    Abstract: 今年度(90年度)總計畫除協調工作、分配經費與人力,並與美國大氣研究中心(NCAR)MM5模式研究人員合作,推動COSMIC計畫氣象研究。目前子計畫一已對GPS/MET資料利用GPS斷層掃描求解模式進行深入的反演,重建大氣濕折射度分佈,再以多波道微波輻射計的觀測資料做驗證。子計畫二由二維GPS/MET所得的偏折角,利用中央氣象局之全球波譜模式分析溫度,求得相對準確之GPS/MET導出水汽含量,並進一步與模式原始分析水汽場做比較。子計畫三進行觀測系統模擬實驗,透過四維變分資料同化(4DVAR)的方法,使用MM5的Adjoint模組,以探討颱風初始化的相關問題,此外亦探討一些衛星資料在颱風初始化程序中所扮演的角色。子計畫四利用MM5的3DVAR模組探討其綜合表現,以及此初始化方法對台灣地區天氣預報之影響。在即時預報任務推動方面,總計畫主持人已於今年7月正式函請民航局及中央氣象局同意,協助及支援氣象初始資料之導入及MM5 3DVAR作業版之使用,同時NCAR亦允諾提供協助及發展相關同化模組。關於各子計畫詳細的期中執行進度與成果,請見附上之計畫研究報告。 In this year, the general project coordinates missions, share the budgets and man powers, and promote collaboration with NCAR to advance COSMIC meteorological research. The first subprogram conducts the advanced retrieval of GPS/MET data by using a radiotomographic reconstruction model, the second subprogram utilizes CWB global SSI 3DVAR for comparisons with GPS/MET relative humidity, the third subprogram uses MM5 adjoint system to conduct OSSE study for understanding of idealized GPS/MET data (moisture information) impact on weather prediction, and the fourth subprogram employs MM5 3DVAR system to investigate its general performance and the influence of 3DVAR initialization on weather prediction. For real-time mode, both CAA and CWB have agreed to provide helps in data ingestion and facilitate use of operational MM5 3DVAR in CWB and NCAR MM5 group are also willing to collaborate on the development of assimilation modules related to GPS/MET observations.
