; The magnitude of the standard deviation of the logarithmic residuals in ground-motion prediction (termed as σ) may directly influence the result of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, especially in low probability. Therefore, “how to reduce the σ?” becomes an important issue in recent years. This proposal plans to utilize the plenty strong-motion data in Taiwan to perform site-specific attenuation study, and derive a site-specific attenuation relationship and standard deviation of the logarithmic residuals. This standard deviation is called site-specific standard deviation, σs. This study also extends the on going NSC project “Next Generation Spectral Attenuation of Taiwan” to include the calculation of single-station standard deviation of the logarithmic residuals, σi. Then, a comparison of the rate of reduction between σs and σi will be made, and the results discussed. The core works in the project include: expanding the TNGA database to include more earthquakes, developing site-specific spectral attenuation relationship and σs for sites, calculating σi from single-station residuals in the spectral attenuation equations of Taiwan, and results comparison and evaluations.
