Abstract: 研究期間:10301~10311;Hakka irrigation ponds are very important adjustable water-supply facilities for the agricultural development on the Taoyuan tableland in the early days. However, in recent decades, Taiwan has been undergoing fast-growing industrial and commercial developments along with the large-scale industrialization and urbanization process. The rapid change of land use & land cover (LULC) and global warming effects have led to the changes of surrounding Hakka environments in the aspect of landscape, climate, temperature, hydrology and living conditions, etc. Among these various issues, the land cover changes in Taoyuan are apparently rapid. The variation including the expansion of urban areas, reduction of farmlands and ponds, is more evident in the northern Taoyuan area. The urban expansion is highly related to the population density, lifestyle, and urban development, and the agricultural land use. The amount of irrigation ponds are profoundly affected by the urban expansion. Therefore, this project aims to investigate the impact of the urban expansion on Hakka water bodies and vegetation areas in Taoyuan via satellite observation data. The remote sensing technology and the spatial statistics are combined in this research to examine the regional temperature variation, urban carrying capacity, as well as their possible effects towards the socio-economic and natural environments. Results are to provide a practical reference for the overall Hakka strategic planning in the Taoyuan area for the future.
