    Title: 高速攝影解析紅色精靈的觸發以及發展過程;High Time-Resolution Imaging of Resolving Sprite Initiation and Development

    Abstract: 我們延續107年度計畫[高空閃電的高速動態觀測]的觀測成果,持續以5000fps解析高速動態的影像,記錄高空閃電的過程,揭開高時間解析的動態分析,目前觀測成果需要更多資料的佐證以及統計分析。因此本年度計畫持續進行高空閃電的高速動態觀測,並且佐以數值模擬程式的分析以及驗證,希望能對紅色精靈的初始過程以及後續發展過程提供直接的證據以及數值模型的解析。數值模擬程式中討論紅色精靈的初始化過程:首先我們設定電漿不規則體為三種情況:(A)正離子、(B)電子以及(C)電子+正離子:來探討電漿不規則體三種情況。我們將討論不同的電漿不規則體的情況對於電漿流的形成之間的關係,以及所需要的電場大小,並且與實際的觀測資料比對來研究使用高速攝影機所觀測到的紅色精靈中初始過程的發生、電漿流的持續發光現象以及電漿流重新點燃形成紅色精靈的過程。 ;High time resolution observation and computer simulations is increasingly becoming important tools to reveal the complex phenomena of atmospheric discharges, e.g., sprite and associated lightning activities. The difficulty of reaching a breakthrough in sprite research is in nature complex phenomena across multi-time and multi space scales. The observation of resolving sprite high-time developing process in 5000 fps have been achieved in our 2018 high speed camera campaign at the Lulin observatory. The high speed camera results can also provide observational evident of sprite initiation while computer simulations will evaluate and validate the feasibility of proposal detailed processes for sprite streamer initiation. Hence, we will simulate the sprite streamer with three initial configurations for irregular plasma in the middle atmosphere: (A) positively charged ions only, (B) negatively charged electrons only, and (C) coexistence of positively charged ions and negatively charged electrons. We will simulate three cases for studying sprite initiations, and compared the simulation results with our high time resolution observation. The aid of observations and theoretical studies using computer simulation may help us to revel the detailed process and fine structure of sprite initiation, and to analyze the continuing emission in sprite streamer and re-ignited process to develop as new structure of sprites.
