    摘要: 《蒙邦希耶王妃》(La Princesse de Montpensier)是十七世紀法國小說家拉法耶特夫人(Madame de Lafayette)的第一部小說,1662年匿名出版。相對於女作家聞名於後世的經典《克萊維王妃》(La Princesse de Clèves),這部篇幅短的作品經常被貶為初出茅廬之作,手法粗略,語言貧乏,甚至有評論質疑這兩部作品是否出自同一座者之手(Duchêne 1998)。2010年,法國導演塔維涅(Bertrand Tavernier)選中《蒙邦希耶王妃》,改編成電影,在遵守小說情節的前提之下,塔維涅將一部簡短的歷史短篇小說發展成一小時五十分鐘的電影,竭力呈現文藝復興時期的生活面貌,宗教戰爭頻傳的法國宮廷社會,女主角與生命中四位男子的情感糾葛,服裝精緻考究,影像鮮明,場景壯觀,紙上人物躍然螢幕。改編文學作品最常遭遇到的問題就是:是否忠於原作?電影理論家巴贊(André Bazin)在《電影是甚麼?》(Qu’est-ce que le cinéma ?)表示,改編的電影應該要反映原著精神與內蘊,並非表面上的相似,而是在不違背原著的旨趣下提供新的觀點,翻轉出個人的意圖。本計畫旨在探討《蒙邦希耶王妃》這本小說與改編後的電影《公主與她的情人》之間轉化、延伸、填補的關係。十七世紀的小說語言是含蓄迂迴的,一切止於暗示,而電影的手法則在於延展、擴張;小說不言明之處,電影致力考量所有的細節,透過視覺效果呈現作品的內涵與風貌。據此,本研究將思索:1.小說與電影如何以歷史的事件為虛構發展的條件? 2.塔維涅如何運用電影工具及其潛能,呈現歷史及其悲劇?而這些影像的延展如何在拉法耶特夫人的小說中便可預見了?3.導演透過這本十七世紀的小說,轉譯了甚麼個人的意圖與立場? ;The Princesse of Montpensier, published anonymously in 1662, is the first novel of Madame de La Fayette, a 17th century French writer. Compared with the mastery The Princesse of Clèves, the first short story of Madame de La Fayette was often considered as a work of a beginning writer: the rough skill, the poor language. Certain literary critic questioned these two novels created from different writers(Duchêne 1998). The Princesse of Montpensier is a romance film in 2010, directed by Bernard Tavernier who adapted from the novel of the same name. He developed from the short historical novel into a movie of one hour and fifty minutes. The plot of the movie is conform with the original novel. The film represents the life aspects in the French court in conflict during the period of Renaissance; the heroine’s emotional entanglement with four men in her life; the fine costume and the high image processing fluency; the personages on the paper are as vivid as life in the movie. The most common question that we encounter as the adaptation of a literary work into a movie: is it faithful to the original work? A French film theorist, André Bazin, assumed in What is cinema? that the faithfulness of translation from the cinematic adaption based on the original work either in esprit and content. Furthermore, the new perspectives and the personal intention shall be transferred into the adapted movie. This study will focus on the transformational, extensive and complementary relation between the original novel, The Princesse of Montpensier and the adapted film, The Princesse and her lovers. Accordingly, this research aims to reconsider in both novel and movie about the question of historical event as the condition of fiction development. How does Tavernier represent a history, a tragedy with the tool of film making? Also the imaginary extension is it predictable in the original novel? What messages or personal intention does the director transfer in the adapted movie based on the 17th century novel?
