十八世紀英國版畫發展蓬勃,作為商業活動,版畫商的出版與經銷策略扮演重要角色。銷售目錄的發行,便是經銷的重要手法。事實上,版畫商銷售目錄在十八世紀期間有相當大幅度的發展,為當時版畫的市場狀況,提供了非常豐富的資訊。然而,這些銷售目錄至今仍未受到研究者深入分析。本項一年期研究計畫,將藉由這些現存目錄,來考察十八世紀英國版畫出版的整體狀況,尤其探討景觀/風景版畫的發展與定位。研究中,將針對目錄的發行、編排、以及內容資訊進行仔細分析,整理出十八世紀英國出版的景觀/風景版畫清單,繼而蒐羅現存版畫,加以比對。最終,將分析不同類型景觀/風景版畫的特色,並結合十八世紀英國藝術環境與概念的發展,來探討景觀/風景版畫在十八世紀英國社會文化脈絡中的意義。 ;British printmaking flourished in the eighteenth century. As a commercial activity, publishers’ publishing and distribution strategies played a crucial role. The issue of sales catalogues was an important means of distribution. In fact, publishers’ catalogues grew considerably during the century, providing a wealth of information for the market conditions of printmaking at that time. However, these sales catalogues have not yet been analyzed systematically and thoroughly by researchers. This one-year research project sets out to look at these existing catalogues so as to examine the overall state of British printmaking in the eighteenth century, particularly the development of view/landscape prints. Through careful analysis of the contents of the catalogues and their arrangement, a list of view/landscape prints published in eighteenth-century Britain will be compiled and further compared with existing prints. In the end, this project will examine the characteristics of various types of view/landscape prints, and explore the significance of view/landscape prints in eighteenth-century British society and culture.
