;The aims of this study is to investigate the distribution, categories, and country of origin of the coastal debris in the field of Taoyuan coast. There are unique landforms such as algal reefs, stone tidal weirs, and sand dune in the Taoyuan coast; however, the coastal debris affects the coastal environments. The entire coastal zone is divided into 30 regions using GIS based on the locations of river mouths and coastal jetties. We planned 30 sampling areas with circles of 20 meters radius located near the high tidal line. The sampling period in fields were during March to October 2019. Following the organization of International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), we categorized the coastal debris into five groups: plastic bottles, daily life wastes, fishing wastes, cigarette butts, and medical wastes. We also surveyed large size coastal debris after April. Some findings are summarized in the following: (1) the amount of the coastal debris in the northern coastal area is higher than that in the southern area. (2) Landform affects the amount of coastal debris. Debris is more easily to be accumulated on sand beaches where filled by vegetation and concrete slopes; small size debris is more easily to be accumulated on gravel beaches. (3) The origins of the collected plastic bottles are different in different seasons, possibly due to the change of summer and winter monsoon and the ocean currents. (4) The amount of the coastal debris depends on the time and the season. (5) The amount of the coastal debris is also affected by the landform and the geographical locations.
