    Abstract:
The Central Cultural Revolution Group is an organization formed to implement the Cultural Revolution. Due to unsolvable contradictions within the Chinese Communist party, Mao Zedong take unofficial measures to found the group by taking advantage of his own status and exercising his authority.
The Central Cultural Revolution Group is an important asset for Mao Zedong to carry out the Cultural Revolution. The group gained support by inciting Chinese people and then extended its power. It received support from Mao Zedong to guide the Cultural revolution with full force during the Anting Event, the Power-Seizing in Shanghai and February Countercurrent. Originally serving as a staff secretariat institution, it gradually developed into the de facto top power organization of the party and replaced the Central Committee Secretariat and the Politburo.
In 1969, the Chinese Communist Party held the 9th National Congress, in which Mao Zedong recognized the significant role the Central Cultural Revolution Group had played in the Cultural Revolution, deeming the Cultural Revolution to be a huge success and hoping to downsize the organization of the party. Formed at the outset of the Cultural Revolution, the Central Cultural Revolution Group had accomplished its functional mission.
