    Abstract: 清末民初間文字學風的轉變與發展,可惜至今尚未有深入性的專著或學位論文產生,是以筆者遂以「民初(1912-1949)文字學教材八種研究」為題。但限於時間與精力,本論文將焦點鎖定在民初文字學教材一類的文獻進行討論。分為「清末民初文字學科的時代背景」、「漢字的起源與變遷」、「漢字的構成分類」、「文字改革方案」四個主要章節。時代背景一章,首先嘗試從社會進化論的角度切入研究,分析當時學者面對新型研究方法的態度,以及從舊傳統中如何接觸新理論架構的轉變與應用;再者,從文字學科受到內外緣因素的影響下,討論民初文字學內容、性質上的重大變化。本論文後三章圍繞在文字學教材本身開展,但在研究方法上多半仍受到社會進化論帶來的具體影響。民初文字學對於社會進化論的應用,表現在「漢字起源的重新探索」、「漢字構成分類的突破」與「漢字未來的新方向」三方面。今透過教學場上留下的授課講義進行橫向的分析,可見社會進化論在民初學術界研究方法中,扮演著十足重要的角色。;The style and development of philology underwent changes during the Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China. However, there are no in-depth essays or monographs on this topic. Therefore, this article will focus on researching philology education textbooks for universities during the Early Republic of China. Due to limited time and energy, this paper will only examine philology education textbooks during this period.
    The paper will be divided into four major sections: "The time background of philology disciplines in the Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China", "Origins and transition of Chinese characters", "Classification of graphs of Chinese characters", and "The plans for reform of Chinese characters". In the first chapter, the paper will research from the perspective of the Theory of Social Evolution. This paper will analyze how many scholars faced new research methods and the transformation and application of new theories in old conventions. Furthermore, the philology discipline was subject to both internal and external factors. This paper will also discuss how the content and nature of philology changed during the Early Republic of China.
    The last three chapters of this paper will revolve around philology education textbooks. However, the Theory of Social Evolution still had a specific impact in terms of research methods. The application of the Theory of Social Evolution in philology during the Early Republic of China is reflected in the "Discusses on the Origins of Chinese Characters", "Breakthrough of Classification of graphs of Chinese characters", and "A new direction for the future development of Chinese characters".
    Through a horizontal level reading of lecture notes from the teaching field, it can be seen that the Theory of Social Evolution always played an important role in the research methods of academic circles during the early Republic of China.
