Abstract:	晚清開埠至戊戌變法，知識人的中西「聞見」擴展，由中西士人的滬上—香港—泰西的海上行旅建構出一個溝通世界的新知識文化脈絡，它平行於朝廷與洋務大臣的政經認知與舉措。中、西及朝、野互動過程中，知識格局因應歐西之變局、中國「三千年未有之大變局」而變，形成王韜〈變法〉所界說的「文學」、「藝學」知識譜系。「文學」在經史傳統內融入現代西學人文，調諧古今形成「以民為本」君主立憲的政治理念，王韜《弢園文錄外編》變法論說文章堪為範式；「藝學」重點在格致等現代科學技藝，是現代生產力成長的土壤。晚清知識論可補學術史、思想史之罅隙，重要的推動「變」法的知識人的歷史位置亦可得到重估。
