;This thesis examines the combination of racial suppression, gendered oppression, and intergenerational trauma affecting Chinese Indonesian women during the New Order dictatorship, as analyzed in Soe Tjen Marching’s writings (including Dari Dalam Kubur novel and The End of Silence: Accounts of the 1965 Genocide in Indonesia). The novel exposes systematic racism, enforced assimilation, and patriarchal oppression through the narratives of Djing Fei, Karla, and Ira. The analysis highlights the simultaneous erasure of ethnic and gender identity, illustrated by Djing Fei’s silencing and forced metamorphosis into Lidya Maria. It also examines acts of resistance, such as Djing Fei’s hidden diary and Ira’s restoration of her family’s history, which interrupt the cycle of pain. This thesis argues that the novel challenges historical injustices while highlighting the significance of storytelling in recovering underrepresented viewpoints and addressing structural oppression.
