;Abstract This study focuses on action research for the promotion of environmental education related to Xinwu Stone Weirs, exploring how the promotion of stone weir culture can contribute to the sustainable development of local livelihoods and communities. The research emphasizes the potential of stone weirs as significant cultural assets to promote ecological conservation and cultural heritage preservation. It also investigates the feasibility of industrializing environmental education as a core strategy for pursuing sustainability. By integrating action research methods, the study evaluates the effectiveness of promotional strategies and makes real-time adjustments and optimizations. The findings highlight key strategies for achieving the sustainable development of stone weir culture. First, strengthening alignment with government policies is essential to incorporate stone weir preservation into local environmental protection plans. Second, collaboration with higher education institutions through University Social Responsibility (USR) programs can integrate stone weir culture into educational and research curricula, fostering young generations′ interest and active engagement with traditional culture. Third, partnerships with corporations leveraging Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks can secure funding and resources, combining stone weir conservation with corporate environmental objectives to promote green social enterprise development. In conclusion, this study demonstrates the importance and feasibility of using action research to promote stone weir culture and support sustainable development in coastal communities. Through collaborative efforts and practical exploration, the preservation and promotion of Xinwu Stone Weirs bring dual benefits of cultural and environmental value to the region while offering a valuable model for other communities with similar challenges.
