;The polyurethane industry plays a pivotal role in global economic development, with its products widely applied across sectors such as construction, transportation, and electronics. However, this industry faces significant challenges, particularly high carbon emissions and waste management issues, which pose threats to environmental sustainability. To address the demand for green transformation in the chemical industry, the polyurethane sector has increasingly adopted low-carbon manufacturing technologies, circular economy practices, and bio-based materials. Additionally, efforts are being made to integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its operations and supply chain management, thereby enhancing resilience and resource efficiency. This study examines a case in the polyurethane manufacturing sector, revealing that traditional supplier selection models, focused primarily on cost, quality, and delivery, are inadequate for meeting modern sustainability requirements. To address this gap, a sustainable supplier selection model centered on SDGs was developed. The research employed the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology, integrating the ESG and SDGs correlation framework proposed by Neha Chakravarty. By incorporating nine industry-specific criteria, organization and chemical enterprises to get eight SDGs prioritized. A hierarchical structure was constructed, encompassing three ESG dimensions and 17 SDGs based evaluation criteria. An AHP-based questionnaire was distributed to ten experts within the case company, and the responses underwent consistency verification. Key indicators for sustainable supplier selection were identified based on relative weight analysis. The findings indicate that the environmental dimension carries the highest weight among evaluation criteria, followed by corporate governance and social dimensions. Notably, the top three criteria — SDG6, SDG3 and SDG7, highlight the critical importance of environmental considerations in sustainable supplier selection. The proposed model developed in this study serves as a crucial foundation for establishing sustainable supply chains in the case company and the polyurethane industry. This model not only enhances supply chain transparency and resilience but also facilitates the balance between economic benefits and environmental sustainability. |
