;This study examines the "Conch Plaza" in the Yong’an district of Xinwu, Taoyuan, along with its associated digital platform—the “Fishing Village Cultural-Eco Go Tour Guide System”. It explores how digital technologies, information visualization, and game-based tour guide systems can be leveraged to reinterpret and revitalize local culture and traditional knowledge.
Xinwu, one of the few settlements in Taiwan shaped by Marine Hakka heritage, presents a distinctive cultural landscape where marine resources are deeply embedded in Hakka life wisdom. In the context of rapid urbanization and industrial transformation, the preservation of traditional fishing village culture has become increasingly urgent.
This research adopts qualitative methodologies, combining participant observation with visual design theory, to develop an analytical framework for tour guide systems grounded in the principles of design–data–narrative. Integrating concepts such as eco-museums, cultural capital, and place branding, the study investigates how digital tour guide systems function as media for cultural representation, local identity construction, and cultural marketing.
The findings reveal that the “Conch Cultural-Eco Tour Guide System” not only enhances visitors’ understanding and engagement with the local culture and history of Yong’an, but also cultivates symbolic cultural imagery within digital spaces. Elements such as the Conch mascot, narrative storyboards, and visual guide materials enrich cultural representation and facilitate the internalization of local knowledge. By integrating both virtual and physical modes of guidance, the system transforms cultural knowledge into an interactive and immersive platform that fosters deeper tourism experiences.
Furthermore, the study highlights that the aesthetic practice of local tour guide systems must integrate visual design, cultural symbolism, and digital narrative logic to effectively meet contemporary demands for cultural preservation and promotion.
Accordingly, the study proposes strategic recommendations for the future development of local cultural tour guide systems, emphasizing that the revitalization of local cultural capital hinges on cross-disciplinary collaboration, digital innovation, and active community participation.
