      <description>title: Universal surrogate likelihood functions for nonnegative continuous data abstract: 摘要： In independent and identically distributed situations, we show that one can properly correct the Poisson and the negative binomial likelihood functions to become asymptotically identical to the profile likelihood function for the mean parameter of nonnegative continuous distributions under mild conditions. We present theoretical justifications and use data analyses to demonstrate the merit of our new robust likelihood method.

      <title>Two-stage signal restoration based on a modified median filter</title>

      <description>title: Two-stage signal restoration based on a modified median filter abstract: 摘要： Median filter is a robust technique for signal restoration when outliers occurred within observations. Moreover, smoothing splines is also an alternative method for recovering the underlying signals. Interestingly, we found that neither median filter nor smoothing splines dominates each other. To obtain a more robust signal estimate, a two-stage procedure for signal denoising is considered, in which the smoothing spline method is applied again to capture possible information within the differences of median filter and smoothing spline estimates. Then, according to an approximate estimator of -risk, a modified median filter method is proposed to estimate the underlying signals. Various comparisons are made via simulation studies to illustrate the superiority of the proposed method.

      <title>The change of microbial community from chlorinated solvent-contaminated groundwater after biostimulation using the metagenome analysis</title>

The compositions of bacterial community in one site contaminated with PCE/TCE after the slow polycolloid-releasing substrate (SPRS) (contained vegetable oil, cane molasses, and surfactants) addition were analyzed. Results show that SPRS caused a rapid enhancement of reductive dechlorination of TCE. The transformation of PCE/TCE into ethene was observed after 20 days of operation. To compare the change of bacterial communities before and after SPRS addition, 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing using the metagenome analysis was performed. Results demonstrated the detection of the increased amounts of Dehalogenimonas by 2.2-fold, Pseudomonas by 3.4-fold and Sulfuricurvum by 4-fold with the analysis of the ribosomal database project (RDP). Metagenomic DNA was extracted from PCE/TCE-contaminated groundwater after SPRS addition, and subjected to sequencing. Results obtained from metagenomic sequencing indicate that genes from Dehalococcoides mccartyi was ranked as the second abundant bacteria among all of the detected bacteria via the analysis of the lowest common ancestor (LCA). Abundance of these bacterial groups, as shown above suggests their role in TCE biodegradation. Functional analysis of the metagenome, with the specific reference to chloroalkane and chloroalkene degradation, revealed the presence of some genes responsible for TCE biodegradation. Overall, results of this study provided new insights for a better understanding of the potential of biostimulation on TCE-contaminated sites.

      <description>title: Testing the homogeneity of proportions for clustered binary data without knowing the correlation structure abstract: 摘要： A robust generalized score test for comparing groups of cluster binary data is proposed. This novel test is asymptotically valid for practically any underlying correlation configurations including the situation when correlation coefficients vary within or between clusters. This structure generally undermines the validity of the typical large sample properties of the method of maximum likelihood. Simulations and real data analysis are used to demonstrate the merit of this parametric robust method. Results show that our test is superior to two recently proposed test statistics advocated by other researchers.
