Abstract: 研究期間:10105~10204;This project will team with Liyang company to develop the high performance of sun-tracking system for photovoltaic (PV). This two-year project aims to develop two-axis solar tracker, such sun-tracking system will feature high performance and low cost, and such system has flexibility to install different types solar cell (silicon-based and III-V) to reduce the deployment cost of PV. Silicon-based PV is still the current mainstream product and the solar tracker is one of the important components of PV system, because with tracking the silicon-based PV system can enhance the annual power output. Another niche PV is known as the concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) and two-axis high accuracy solar tracker is required to attain the high efficiency. PV system with tracking is suitable for mid-insolation region (e.g. Taiwan), while the CPV system works better at high-insolation region. This project aims to develop twp sets of two-axis tracker (second year) for assessing the performance of silicon-based PV system. Two two-axis trackers for CPV with III-V solar cell will be tested in the second year. In total, 8 kW of PV will be installed. Our PV-tracking system will reduce cost substaintially compared with similar product on current market, and CPV-tracking system will increase 2% of power conversion efficiency compared with commercial CPV-tracking system. In addition, our tracking systems will feature many advantages: high performance, works for different types of solar cell, multiple options of tracking control, MPPT for increasing power output, and higher wind resistance for tracker. The technologies to be developed in this project will help Taiwan company develop many key technologies (monitoring tracking accuracy, light sensor, micro processor for tracking, MPPT function, structure deforming analysis of tracker, innovative design of tracker mechanism and correction of pointing error) and transfer into PV products (such as two-axis solar tracker, sun-tracking controller, and sun sensor). With these products, new PV niche market share in Taiwan and world as well can be anticipated. During the first phase of this project, several core technologies have been achieved: 1) development of CCD technology for measuring the offset angle of solar tracking, and improvement sensitivity of PSD technology for different weather conditions; 2) hardware and electronic board of light sensor for two-axis solar tracker, and hardware of dspic sun-tracking controller for PV solar tracker; 3) design/manufacture and installation of 2 kW PV solar tracker, errors analysis of solar tracker on the sun-tracking accuracy, deformation and wind load simulation for PV-tracking system, and formulation of the tolerance criteria of various mechanisms of PV two-axis solar tracker with the sun-tracking accuracy.
