;Software projects have uniqueness in nature, such as team size, complexity, project time etc. Project teams need to tailor their own software process to fit the characteristics or the situations when developing a new project. In such a complex and knowledge-intensive environment, transactive memory system (TMS) can help teams make a good use of their successful tailoring experiences in the past and improve the tailoring performance includes effectiveness and efficiency when they have a need. Besides, tasks are thus closely connected and inseparable, so they’re easy to cause the task conflict. Plus, time is an important element in the teams. Task conflict and the shared temporal cognitions (STC) are factors that affect the software process tailoring (SPT).
With the aforementioned backdrop, this research proposed a model to explore whether and how TMS affects the SPT performance, in which task conflict and STC are added as moderator variables. This research adapted online questionnaire survey, obtained 236 valid samples, and analyzed the data by using SmartPLS3.0 and SPSS. The results reveal that TMS has positive impact on the performance of SPT. Moreover, TMS can also be negative moderated by task conflict and positive moderated by STC. Discussions in terms of theoretical and practical implications are also provided.
