| 摘要: | 1945年8月15日，日本戰敗宣布無條件投降，艱苦的抗日戰爭終於迎來最終的勝利；10月25日，臺灣宣告光復。之後，隨著國共爭鬥的日益擴大，為了不使臺灣成為支持國府打內戰的力量，中共中央決定派遣臺灣籍的幹部蔡孝乾回臺，負責建立、領導「臺灣省工作委員會」，以為將來解放軍渡海攻臺的內應；該組織於1946年6月在臺北市正式成立，經3年時間的潛伏發展，建立起遍布臺灣北、中、南部的組織，以及千餘名中共黨員，透過宣傳和組織群眾鬥爭的方式，在臺灣已有相當程度的影響力；然而，隨著組織暴露，並遭到情治單位一連串的打擊和破壞，包括蔡孝乾在內的許多中高級幹部陸續被捕，或死或降。這個叱吒一時的地下組織，也於1952年4月底在苗栗瓦解。
