dc.description.abstract | This master’s thesis aims to discuss the relationship between Wang Yun-Wu’s life and the development of current Chinese Library industry. The first part identifies Wang’s life, his experience, and history with library. He was deprived of education for various reasons at young ages, so he developed his own methods, and leveraged library resources by himself. By doing so at this young age, he cultivated deep relationship with the library industry. The second part describes the profile of current Chinese library development in China and Taiwan. I try to explore the connection between Wang Yun-Wu and modern library industry. Therefore, the third part discusses Wang’s influences of the current library industry. He was enthusiastic for the library industry. During his time hosting The Commercial Press Limited, his idea toward library management impelled him to actively establish library and open to public. He also started publish business to help promote library business, including editing a collection of literary works, compiling a library series, publishing reference books, training professionals, and proposing advice to the library development. All these actions are closely related to modern Chinese library business. The fourth part firstly sorts out the history of Book Classification, and rediscuss the improvement of library management skills that Wang Yun-Wu provided. He created The Classification System, Four-corner System, and The Author Number, generating great impact to bibliography. To review his career, he spent 40 years working in The Commercial Press Limited. Although he worked as government officials and participated politics and economics during his career, his lifetime devotion was still on the publishing and library businesses. | en_US |
