Nowadays, the global manufacturing industry faces the challenges of labor reduction, increasing material costs, decreasing product life cycles, and customized demands. The concept of "Industry 4.0" was first proposed in Germany, which includes the cloud, big data, networking, robotics, automation and artificial intelligence. All the elements are crucial important while manufacturing process is desired to be SMART. Therefore, information technology and manufacturing technology should be integrated with the aids of software and hardware. In such a way, the production process can be more flexible and more efficient.
IC design industry is the upstream of the semiconductor industry. In Taiwan, the service system/chain of IC design industry is fully established and well organized. Every member in the supply chain reaches the simultaneous development both vertically and horizontally. As the results, the related and supporting industry grow strongly and completely. Thus, how to improve the supply chain management of IC design industry to create more valuable supply chain is the most important goal.
The method of this research is the case study, using the theory of supply chain business process of Cooper et al (1998). The main purpose is to collect all information about the impact of "Industry 4.0" in the industry for respondents. And then summarize and analyze of these data, finally, according to these data to expect the benefits and the influences of "Industry 4.0" for IC design industry in its supply chain management. | en_US |
