Taiwan′s electronics industry has been nearly 50 years of development, with years of strong design and manufacturing capacity for Taiwan to win the reputation of the world′s manufacturing kingdom. With the rapid change of global economic and the science, business model from the early original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to original design manufacturer (ODM), and developing into the original brand manufacturer (OBM). The firms aggressively expanded the global market and kept high-quality in both manufacturing and product quality at the same time, they still have to continue to the technical innovation and manufacturing process, it makes the firms more competitive and advantage in the international competition.
The frequent of the innovation and changes has been an increasing in the "Consumer Products" of the electronics industry. In order to meet the requirement from consumers, Speeding "Time to Market" has become one of the keys in the success of consumer products. During the process of the technology and new product development, it is necessary to minimize the launch time and quickly convert innovative ideas into products or services to follow the trend of the world.
In the modern industry design chain, apply the "collaborative design" concept into the project management for integrating the strategy, process and information into the design chain, it have become one of the critical tools for enterprises to enhance their competitiveness. This study takes the display industry chain as an example to discuss the importance of "collaborative design" in design development and interaction among the industry chain. The method used in this study is known as the integrated information system architecture (ARIS) with the object-oriented design patterns and images that illustrate the related process during the executing project management from upstream as semiconductor IC design companies, panel manufacturers, brands to downstream as manufacturer of the design chain, though the early involve in the design of cross-echelon cooperation for collaborative and synchronous design, further optimization for the current new product introduction (NPI).
The study contributes to the understanding of through which the cross-echelon project management influence new product performance. The collaborating firms to build up an openness environment to discussing conflict views, it makes the partner be able to exchange the project information and communication more efficiently with each other, reduce design errors or omissions. Further reduce both of the development and production costs, shorten the development cycle, improve business efficiency, and accelerate decision-making and implementation. It hopes the vertical integration of the value-chain, to avoid the vicious cycle of price competition to ensure the competitive advantages of enterprises. | en_US |
