dc.description.abstract | As the interest of Taiwanese academics in the research of Mao Zedong is increasing, the research scope covers all fields of politics, history, literature, thought, etc. Among them, the Great Famine and the Cultural Revolution can be called the two catastrophes that the CCP has experienced since its founding. These two events have become historical traumas that are difficult to eradicate in the history of modern China, and are important historical events worthy of continuous dialogue and exploration to researchers. In view of this, the theme of this article is to focus on the Great Leap Forward that led to the Great Famine and the key figure Mao Zedong as well.
This article delves into three topics: “international factors in the formation of the Great Leap Forward”, “internal factors in the formation of the Great Leap Forward”, and “the influence of personal worship of Mao Zedong (Mao Cult) on the Great Leap Forward.” From these issues, this article explores the various connections between Mao Zedong and the formation of the Great Leap Forward in 1958. In the mid-1950s, whether it was an international competition between China and the Soviet Union and other socialist camps, or various struggles of the political ecology of the high-level Communist Party of China, Mao Zedong played a direct and important role in the formation of the Great Leap Forward and even planted the bane of the Cultural Revolution of 1966. In other words, the political trend from 1956 to 1958 led by Mao Zedong not only created the tragedy of the Great Leap Forward, but also affected the collective history and destiny of the Chinese people in the next 20 years. | en_US |
