dc.description.abstract | This thesis is based on the study of the traditional poetry society of I-Wen Poetry Society of ZhongLi Hakka.
I-Wen Poetry Society was founded in the Japanese occupation era, year 10 of Taisho. It has been 97 years old and is one of the oldest traditional poetry clubs. It is the objective of this thesis to collect, document and study current available information in order to maintain the sustainable development of I-Wen Poetry Society and prevent it from disappear.
The content of this thesis focuses on the operation and development of the poetry society after the Taiwan’s recovery from Japan occupation. I-Wen Poetry Society is one of those few traditional poetry clubs that are still in normal operation and hold regular meetings monthly. It is rare in Taiwan. I-Wen Poetry Society is the treasure of Hakka traditional poetry clubs in Taiwan.
This research uses information collected from literature analysis, interview and the author’s personally participation in poetry activities. These information are classified, analyzed and organized for systematic research.
This thesis mainly discusses the historical evolution, literary activities, poetry analysis, the life of the representative members and their literary performances after the recovery of Taiwan from Japan occupation in 1945. Accordingly, the content of this thesis is divided into five chapters.
The first Chapter is Introduction including research motivation, research purposes, literature review and research methods.
The second chapter is the historical evolution and literary activities of I-Wen Poetry Society. The geographical environment, human development and education status of Zhongli are discussed in the first section. The history of I-Wen Poetry Society is described in the second section. The third section is about the literary activities of I-Wen Poetry Society. The fourth section is about the organization of the I-Wen Poetry Society.
The third chapter is about the life of some representative members of I-Wen Poetry Society and their literary performance such as those whom had been elected as laurel poet, who’s poems were highly honored and who were very active in society activities.
The fourth chapter is about the analysis of the poems of poets of I-Wen Poetry Society. The analysis is done based on the publications of I-Wen Poetry Society, three volumes of the collection of poems. the publications of the National Poets′ Conference.
The fifth chapter is conclusion. Through the above analysis and research, it is found that the I-Wen Poetry Society is the classical traditional Hakka poetry society that is still operating normally in Taiwan. It uses Hakka dialect of xi ien/ian kiong to do poetry that highlights the special charm different from other poetry clubs. The traditional Hakka classical poetry club is very rare now a day and deserved special protection. Four suggestions are proposed in this chapter. I hope that more people will accept traditional poetry in the future. A good and friendly environment of literature can be created for promotion of poetry. The noble, decent and beautiful Chinese culture and tradition can be continued to improve the quality of life of the current society. | en_US |
