dc.description.abstract | In recent years, international has been committed to the development of renewable energy sources. Regulations of environmental and green energy development goals have been successively proposed, for example France launched a few environmental revolution in 2017: stop using fossil fuel power in 2022; halved nuclear power by 2025, and stop selling gasoline and diesel vehicles by 2040. When countries focus on the green energy industry, solar energy which was advertised as zero pollution and zero emissions has been placed under the spot light again. However, the production of solar cell is not without pollution.
The purpose of this study is to explore the green performance in the solar cell supply chain. Explore the correlation between the industry efficiency and green performance of solar cell supply chain, and provide respective suggestion by analyzing the financial data of major industries in the solar cell supply chain for several periods, avoiding the deviation caused by single period evaluation, with DEA Meta windows analysis method and compare the result with environmental cost data released by companies.
The research results show that companies in the solar cell industry could achieve high efficiency with great green performance. For mature industries: silicon materials or silicon wafer industry, the industries always maintain high efficiency even when the market experience a great change. These industries should dedicate to improve their green performance while maintaining high efficiency. For less mature industries: solar cell and vertical integration industries, the industry react to market change rapidly and the market is continuing to grow. Companies should improve the efficiency first. In the meantime, they should consider reducing the environmental cost of expanding in order to achieve a real “zero pollution industry”. | en_US |
