dc.description.abstract | In recent years, the advanced development in storage technology and network connection speeds has driven the rapid development of big data and artificial intelligence. In order to strengthen the company’s information security, many companies have begun to consider transferring internal information systems and services to the company′s private cloud environment and adopt virtual desktop systems. However, in order to effectively support remote work, it is inevitable to significantly increase expenditures such as network equipment upgrades, virtualization software licenses, information security equipment and so on, and that makes many companies step back. In early 2020, the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) impact the global economy severely, which accelerate the digital transformation of various industries, including companies around the globe that exercise remote work of different scale, such as Apple, Amazon, Twitter and Facebook.
This study explores the process, causes and results of case company′s introduction of desktop virtualization system, including how to properly plan and implement desktop virtualization technology, manage the operating environment mixed with physical and virtual devices, and achieve the goal of integrating the highest use efficiency with limited resources, which currently are the urgent issues that enterprises need to consider.
At present, for enterprises that tend to plan an internal virtual desktop structure or prepare to implement remote office, there is no complete evaluation method and import process for their senior information managers to predict actual needs, budget, human and equipment resources. This study intends to find out the key qualitative and quantitative indicators by exploring the problems and solutions encountered during the import process in this case. This can be a reference for such enterprises to carry out desktop virtualization environments in the future. | en_US |
