Manufacturing has always challenged the limits of cost, efficiency and quality, which is one reason the CMM′s position is so entrenched. The CMM is currently the most accurate tool available, even as sensing technology enters the measuring equipment arena. Vendors are constantly innovating, creating many variants from the basic mobile bridging CMM to meet a wide variety of needs and assist customers in reducing costs. Despite the prevalence of automation, highly accurate machines for measuring large parts are still indispensable, so there is still room for bulky, manually operated CMM with triggering detection heads. Even simple manual CMM is still common, and small studios that measure a small number of parts at a time are particularly interested in this measurement device.
