dc.description.abstract | In recent years, with the promotion of regional revitalization initiatives in our country, this study aims to investigate whether the combination of traditional house hotels and hotel platforms can serve as a strategy to drive regional revitalization. Inspired by Japan′s representative examples of regional revitalization, specifically the transformation of Machiya Streets into lodging spaces, this research seeks to collect relevant literature, policy backgrounds, and cases within our country where similar transformations of old houses or buildings into lodging spaces have been executed.
The study first delves into the relationships among regional revitalization, traditional house hotels, and hotel platforms. It outlines the developmental context of regional revitalization policies in our country. Regarding traditional house hotels, the research draws insights from past cases of revitalizing old houses and their potential as contemporary lodging spaces. For hotel platforms, the focus is on the marketing and promotional benefits of new types of accommodation platforms. The study aims to discuss the potential benefits of combining traditional house hotels with hotel platforms and whether these benefits can be instrumental in driving regional revitalization—considered a core value of this research.
Through in-depth interviews, the study concludes that traditional house hotels can serve as pivotal points for regional revitalization. It emphasizes the crucial role of hotel platforms, particularly in reservation and management systems for traditional house hotels, and their contribution to regional revitalization efforts. Interviewees expressed the need for more robust marketing and promotional platforms. The "Line@Regional Revitalization," identified during interviews, aligns well with the study′s objective of integrating traditional house hotels, hotel platforms, and regional revitalization.
Future research recommendations include exploring potential collaborative schemes with platforms to realize regional revitalization objectives and evaluating their alignment with these goals. Assessing the extent to which such initiatives drive regional revitalization and scrutinizing their impact on regional revitalization strategies are recommended areas for further observation. The study aims to provide a foundational understanding for subsequent research into the integration of traditional house hotels, hotel platforms, and strategies for driving regional revitalization.
