dc.description.abstract | The panel industry is one of the important technology sectors in Taiwan, encompassing not only panel manufacturers but also upstream, midstream, and downstream equipment and material suppliers. Since 2009, under the encouragement and subsidies from the Chinese government′s policies, the panel production capacity has rapidly expanded across various regions in mainland China. Many Taiwanese panel equipment and material companies have benefited from this and have set up factories or business offices in China. However, due to the large-scale investment by the Chinese government in the panel industry, the market has become oversupplied. This has led to a continuous decline in panel prices, affecting the development of the panel industry and its supply chain. As the Chinese panel industry matures, the market development value for surrounding supply chain equipment or material companies has gradually diminished. In response to the industrial development policies of various countries, the next market expansion for panel-related companies lies in India and its neighboring Southeast Asian regions.
In recent years, the Indian government announced an investment of $20 billion to build a local LCD panel supply chain. This marks another national effort to develop the LCD industry after China. Under the influence of geopolitical factors, India has become an important market and a key region for major companies to diversify their supply chain layouts. This study explores how the case company, UK Company, which serves as an equipment agent supplier for various panel manufacturers in Taiwan and China, should respond to the global expansion actions of government-supported industries. Through the analysis of value chains, business model canvases, Porter′s five forces analysis, and SWOT analysis, this study aims to explore how to strategically layout the Indian market and make the best choices and plans for the next steps. Based on in-depth analysis, several preliminary options were formulated, and final recommendations were presented. | en_US |
