dc.description.abstract | As sustainability and corporate social responsibility increasingly become integral to global business practices, understanding how the computer and peripheral equipment manufacturing industry implements diversity and gender equality policies, and how these policies are reflected in sustainability reports, becomes particularly critical. This study delves into the 2022 sustainability reports based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework, exploring issues of employee diversity, gender equality, and social responsibility through text mining techniques, particularly employing Concept Linking and Topic Modeling to investigate the actual implementation of policies from extensive textual data.
The findings indicate that in terms of employee diversity, Taiwan′s computer and peripheral equipment manufacturing industry has broadly implemented diverse recruitment strategies and career development plans, especially offering equal opportunities for gender, ethnicity, and the physically challenged. Companies actively attract and retain talent from diverse backgrounds through university-industry collaboration and diverse recruitment channels, and enhance talent development and retention through competency potential assessments. Regarding gender equality, firms promote pay equity by establishing transparent salary review mechanisms and regularly performing market salary comparisons, ensuring fair treatment for male and female employees in the same positions. Moreover, most participating companies show a proactive stance in fulfilling their social responsibilities, advancing local economic and social development by engaging in community building and environmental initiatives such as donations, volunteer services, and establishing partnerships with local communities, demonstrating a firm commitment to continuous improvement in social and environmental conditions.
In summary, this study not only reveals the actual performance of the computer and peripheral equipment manufacturing industry in implementing diversity and gender equality policies but also highlights how firms enhance their competitiveness and social responsibility in a globalized market through these policies. | en_US |
