dc.description.abstract | The main research range of this study is the technological developments and changes of Taiwan tea industry for post-war 60 years. The research object focuses on the Tea Research & Extension Station (TRES) and investigates its responsible duties of agronomic & processing technologies, the promotion of scientization & mechanization, the extended tasks of tea industry, etc. This research hopes to understand following things through the tea-related historical materials, historical literatures, monographs and journals: the space-time and backgrounds that the TRES was established, the kinds of experiment and research that were utilized to improve Taiwan teas, and resulted changes & influences, etc.
This study quotes various literatures and official statistical data in this text, and also conducts the in-depth interviews with some TRES’s researchers and its retired persons, tea farmers, tea merchants. The purposes of above research methods are to supply some information that cannot transferred by these data or to investigate the practical operation dimension of Taiwan tea technology research, and to understand the real domain in the R & D process of tea technology.
The TRES’s related experimental researches have became wider and multiple following the technological progress over the past 60 years, and there are respectable achievements in the cultivation managements and tea processing. Their extension objects have crossed from the technological spread with tea farmers and processors to the consumers’ education & propaganda. The major objectives are that they want to promote Taiwan tea qualities and increase tea consumptions. The TRES is the research center of Taiwan tea industry and it is the resource of cultivation and processing knowledge for tea farmers. As many R & D technologies were extended from TRES, the developments of Taiwan tea industry have possessed technological improvement and promotion. Therefore let Taiwan teas have possessed an important position in international tea markets.
Generally, the TRES has contributed to some influences on Taiwan tea industry developments in providing new information and leading the path of industry, guiding the promotion of cultivation and processing technologies for tea farmers, leading the colonization and development of tea fields, and promoting the upgrade of industry. Tea science & technology are the original power of industrial progress, and the TRES is the core of R & D and spread for Taiwan tea industry. In prospect, if the TRES hope to carry out the sustainable developments of Taiwan tea industry, it still needs to combine the related industry chains, to adjust the experiments and researches according to the domestic & abroad situations any time, to apply new science & technology to promote cultivation, processing & marketing of teas, and to conduct continuously the guidance & extension. Then this traditional industry, which had lasted for many years, could conduct modernization & scientization, and the Taiwan tea industry could carry out the sustainable developments. | en_US |
