dc.description.abstract | The study is a feasibility analysis, aiming at investigating the feasibility of implementing an Internet-based solution for insurance agents to facilitate sales activates. Five important aspects of feasibilities, namely, market, technical, economic, legal and risk, were assessed.
Our analysis reveals that an Internet-based system will be effective for insurance agents to perform their business. In principle, the system should focus on the application aspects, and consumer-centric. Our suggestions for the proposed system are as follows.
1. Rich in relevant content and flexible in presentation, to suit heterogeneous users,
2. Fully integrated resources for the agents,
3. Capable of sending SMS/text and e-mail to clients and potential clients,
4. Capable of distributing, sharing and exchanging customized business cards,
5. Use of search engine optimization and keyword advertisement,
6. Hyper-link exchange with external web-sites,
7. Exploiting social networking and instant messaging,
8. Expand exposure over the Internet,
9. Plan and execute the system by Insurance companies (or outsourced to professional Internet companies by the insurance companies).
The availability of insurance solutions on the Internet is still early in its development stage, there are bound to be risk and insufficiencies, and compliance to law and regulations is a MUST in the Industry. If the insurance companies and their agents can effectively exploit the potentials brought in by the Internet, they can no doubt increase their competitiveness. In doing so, a e-insurance business model can be implemented, where there is a possibility of a win-win-win situation among the insurance companies, agents and clients.
