dc.description.abstract | The novel Gui Chui Deng, stories about the adventure of three tomb raiders, was serially posted on the internet by the writer Tian-xia-ba-chang and published later during 2006 to 2008. Due to the amazing sales performance of Gui Chui Deng, large amount of novel with the same theme were published in a short time. This phenomenon was called “Tomb Raid Fever”, and the name of “Tomb-raid Literature” appeared at the same time.
This essay is a nearly complete text analysis of Gui Chui Deng. There is three parts. First, searching related elements of Gui Chui Deng and ancient literatures, and analyzing the usage of this novel. Second, arranging the context of Tomb-raid Literature. Fantasy Literature, Chinese Magic Fantasy Literature and Tomb-raid Literature own the same aesthetics, the spectacularity which is directly related with the progress media technology. In other words, multimedia text such as commercial films and electronic game, especially role play games, has great impacts to these types of literature. Third, researching the writing about the history of being intellectual youth in Gui Chui Deng. Gui Chui Deng belongs to Post- intellectual-youth Literature. Disgusting the usage of the language of Cultural Revolution (1966-76) is one of the important issue in this chapter.
The analysis of Gui Chui Deng connects Chinese ancient culture and literature, Fantasy Literature system, multimedia context, and modern history issues. Besides to supplement the vacant of Tomb-raid Literature theory from modern literature field, this essay is also helping finding out more about the creation and acceptation process of similar types of novel.
