dc.description.abstract | Existing e-book works are almost focusing on how to increase the capability itself and satisfy the habit for normal readers, such as turning page, taking note or viewing on content. However, it is difficult that how to use e-books as students’ textbook in class. Now some experiments are done on using e-book for students taking a course with an assigned textbook, and hope that e-books can become electric school bags. We discover that e-books suit to normal reading, but if we let e-books are as the textbook and to study it, it is not enough obviously for learning. Because in normal learning environment in class, students are in order to understand more knowledge in content of textbook, they almost need to read the textbook together with teacher’s lecturing slides, their notes, and articles in course discussion forum. In the same time, students need to select, organize, and integrate these resources in different places to comprehend the content of the textbook, but using e-books is difficult to achieve these works.
We apply the HCI (Human Computer Interaction) theorem to provide a Sliding Grid Content Switch Model mechanism to design and implement our system on e-books, it helps that students study textbooks on e-book with intuitive operation on switching between textbooks and related documents. We mainly focus on teacher’s lecturing slides, forum, and textbooks, each content of synchronization between different documents based on page, it can help students more focusing on a question, don’t let they lost attention. For evaluating the usability and learning effect of student with our system, we held a comparative experiment to evaluate the user-friendliness and learning effect of this system. The result tells us that there is a significant improvement in memory test.
