During the “golden period” of Nanzhuang, thousands of local; mostly conversion to mining work; had produced a record of twenty tonnes of coal at the peak of coal production. Unfortunately closure of coal mines had began to shutdown due to heavy depletion of coal resources in Nanzhuang; which in turn lead to a decrease in mining work, thus dwindling population.
