dc.description.abstract | In recent years, serious natural disasters happen constantly around the world. The “311 earthquake” happened in Japan shocked the domestic and international, which leads to serious nuclear leakage of pollution. Similarly, natural disasters also occur more and more frequently all over Taiwan in recent years, and let us realize that the global environmental crisis and contemporary life are inseparable. It is the right time for us to confront the issue of Taiwan’s sustainable development and make appropriate adjustments.
This paper attempts basing on the situation of Taiwan’s environment to interpret and illustrate the deep meaning as well as the environmental sustainable implications of the problems of Taiwan’s environment. I noted, on one hand, future environmental sustainability policy orientation not only should take care of the environmental economics, but also need to go beyond economic considerations; on the other hand, the present “sustainable management” itself is also a problem. In this manner, I attempt basing on the concept of the Zhong-yong (The Doctrine of the Mean) “sincerity itself” to try to solve the environmental problems encountered by Taiwan’’s sustainable management.
I argue, due to the fact that a variety of species survival in the same “environment”, whether environment can be sustainable or not is a crisis for all species to face. Therefore, being a moral agent, what is the significance of human when they throw themselves into some related struggles? Can human solve the crisis of “environmental sustainability”? Among these processes, what roles do the ethical considerations and moral practice play? Based on these core issues, I adopt “the theory of moral experience” as an approach to interpret the concept of Zhong-yong, using it as an approach to solve the problem of environmental sustainability, and try to justify the argument of paradigm shift from human concern to the universe of care (To bring “sincerity itself” into full play will make environmental sustainability). In a word, I propose an outlook of environment sustainability by the practice on “understand what is Good -sincerity itself” and “to choose what is good and hold fast to it”.
