The thesis is a study on organizational operations of Fuyun Association in Hsinfong Township. As a result of knowledge heritage of ancestors and respect to the character, the Jing-zi Pavilion is therefore built, in which the character is dealt with by burning. In order to maintain the operation of Jing-zi Pavilion, the character-cherishing pavilion is built up further. The preservation of Jing-zi Pavilion is relatively complete in Hakka region. The character-cherishing culture has led to interest in reading and enhancement of the local culture.
Character-cherishing is the performance of Chinese culture on the character worship and Jing-zi Pavilion is a concrete manifestation. Awe of the character, looking forward to success in imperial examination, bringing honors to ancestors, rapid advance in career and the doctrine of religion have intensively let the character-cherishing culture more legitimate, acceptable and inheritable by Hakka. The existence of Jing-zi Pavilion proved the Hakka’s insistence on character-cherishing culture.
Some scholars and experts have researched Jing-zi Pavilion, while the discussion of Kong-sheng Pavilion of Fuyun Association in Hsinfong Township is wanting. Kong-sheng Pavilion has been established for over 130 years, the worship never stops and the operational organization is the only one of its kind in Taiwan. This thesis will make up for the omission and prove the preservation of character-cherishing cultural tradition.
By studying the document, applying the field study, supplementing personal participation and interviews, the history of Kong-sheng Pavilion of Fuyun Association in Hsinfong Township is studied comprehensively. The complete participation and observation of the ceremony, photographing, deep interviews with the descendants of the association founders and interviews with local historians and writers will help us dig out the oral-transmitted memory, piece together the fragments of the more real Fuyun Association in Hsinfong Township, provide us with a deeper understanding of Fuyun Association in Hsinfong Township The information about the origin, organization and operation of Fuyun Association in Hsinfong Township and Kong-sheng Pavilion will be supplemented and enriched.
It’s discovered that Kong-sheng Pavilion of Fuyun Association in Hsinfong Township is a Jing-zi Pavilion which has the ownership of land in Taiwan. The worship and ceremony never stop after the establishment of the pavilion. It’s a community organization which passes to legitimate sons and gives the worshipers a subsidy of transportation expenses. In response to the laws and regulations, it has become a national community organization. In spite of the uncertainty of time, laws and regulations and human affairs, the traditional heritage of character-cherishing remains constant and unchanging.
