dc.description.abstract | Hsieh Fan-Te was a famous adherent of the South Sung Dynasty. He was known for both his integrity and his writing. Furthermore, his poems were widely recognized, resulting in much research and criticism of his work. However, there are still many areas of his literature that have not been fully analyzed. Therefore, this essay will focus on his poems and poetic theory.
The first part provides a background to Hsieh Fan-Te. It explores the history of the South Sung Dynasty and includes background on Hsieh Fan-Te’s family, education, friendships and so on.
The second part is the research of his poetry. I use the analysis and inductive method to analyze his 93 poems, discuss the poems’ styles, to understand his preference of writing style and the writing style standards used. After that, investigating the meaning suggested in his titles, I will focus on the content of the poems, and try to understand his ideologies. Also, I will compare his poems with other literature from poets of the same era, and highlight the value of Hsieh Fan-Te’s work.
The third part researches his poetic theory. The research is based on his two literature creations” Shizhuan zhushu”, “Zhu Jie Xuan Tang Shi” and some essays. Hsieh Fan-Te had never talked about his poetic theory, so his theory and personality characteristics must determine through his literature creations, and I will observe whether he put his poetic theory in his poems or not. | en_US |
