With the market scale of economy is small, as well as the necessity of fulfilling the market demand on various types of vehicle, the market structure of Taiwan automobile industry has been limited diversification. Under such situation, the automobile manufacturing needs a greater variety of parts, meanwhile the parts preparation in warehouse is getting more complicated, so is picking parts in assembly line or material handling. Thereupon material supply model of assembly line has become a critical issue of automobile production, since it relates not only to smoothness of production process but to the total cost and efficiency of production. To implement further study and improvement on the issue will help enterprises survive from fierce market competition.
As the science and technology proceeded, the automobile manufacturer continually improved the way of distributing materials to production line based on lean production method. On software side, they applied computer integration to replace manual basis for production programming. On hardware side, the AGVS (Automatic Guided Vehicle System) could be used for parts delivery in stead of fork lifts and electric carts.
The dissertation investigates case company on the gradual improvement process of material supply model of automobile assembly line for the past many years, to study how to supply materials just in time and automatically, and apply it to the similar production process. The conclusion is to adopt set parts supply with AGV for materials feeding to assembly line, and keeping on improving process. |
