Stress would cause individual’’s physical and mental a great harm. The sources of stress and psychological factors are closely related, so many psychologists have started to research this issue. Moderate pressure will stimulate the body to enhance its response capacity, and increasing job performance and quality. However, the requirements or restrictions can not be reached, the too much stress will result in poor job performance and quality, and it easily leads to personal emotion complexity and instability. In this way, the major aim of this study is to clarify the casual relationship between positive thinking and work stress, particularly with the focus on the employee working under the stress circumstances, whether through positive thinking to reduce work stress on psychological feelings.
The data in this study were primarily collected from questionnaires. There are 178 validated questionnaires of total 508. To ensure the relations between positive thinking and work stress would not be restricted to certain industry sector, we included different industries in our sample: high-tech, manufacturing, banks, insurance, wholesale, retail trade, consultancy, and transport industry.
The findings of this study were that positive thinking in the optimism, enthusiasm, courage, confidence, calmness, and focus showed a significant negative correlation with the feelings of work stress. In addition, positive thinking will because of the different age and educational levels have significant differences. And the thesis gives some advices for applications of actual practice.
