With development of information technology and increase of bandwidth, surfing the Internet is not only for searching information but also the way for killing time, developing interpersonal relationships, and express feelings. After the attention of the application of blog, the blog has become a stage for people to show themselves. Because adolescent psychological and physiological status is between children and adults, the cultures they express may be different from the mainstream of society values. In addition, the blog is a virtual environment that may lead adolescent to show different genre from real life. Above all, this study explored the genres presented by teenage blogs from their use patterns, grouping cases and subcultures. The researcher chose WRETCH, which is most representative and has most users in Taiwan. Using purposive sampling method and snowball sampling method, forty-eight samples of teenage blogs were chosen in this study. First, we explored the variables of the collected teenage blogs to reveal the blog genres. By factor analysis, four factors which affect types of teenage blogs were found that include “interpersonal relationships”, “narrative of personal feelings”, “portrait of entertainment ”, and “amusement and school”. By cluster analysis, teenage blogs were distinguished into two groups of uniform theme and expression of feelings. The group of expression of feelings emphasized interpersonal relationships and narrative of personal feelings, so the articles of this group focused on the themes of feelings, love, and peer. However, the group of expression of feelings was rare. Most teenage blogs belonged to the group of uniform theme. Finally, the researcher generalized the subcultures of teenage blogs. We hope the results of this study can be a useful reference for educators to understand and to be close to adolescents. |
