摘要:	本研究探討台灣和美國的銀行因併購而使銀行的規模擴大及更有競爭力，從台灣的銀行業選出三家銀行，分行是玉山銀行、花旗銀行及開發金控，而美國的銀行則是美國銀行與美林證券及大通曼哈頓與JP摩根，這些銀行透過併購後，為投資者提供資金的同時，希望能獲得較高的利潤。台灣的銀行業普遍來說規模均過於小且同質性很高，再加上金融業家數過多，銀行業的競爭太過激烈且資金供給也很多，銀行的經營變得很困難，併購成了最快的方法之一，銀行規模大才能與國際的銀行去接軌去競爭。以台灣及美國的銀行的併購的例子來看，併購有其一定的目的，對於一些體質較差或較小的銀行而言，被併購是有很大的好處，不會被市場所淘汰且能讓銀行更有競爭力，一個國家的金融市場健全且規模可與國際的金融機構相抗衡，對於經濟的穩定有一定的助益。;This study investigated the Bank of Taiwan and the United States due to mergers and acquisitions to expand the scale and leaving the bank more competitive banking sector from Taiwan to elect three banks, branches of the Sun Bank, Citibank and Development Financial Holding, while Bank of America is the United States banking and Merrill Lynch and Chase Manhattan and JP Morgan, these banks through the post-merger, to provide investors with capital at the same time, hoping to get higher profits. Taiwan′s banking industry is generally too small and average size of homogeneity is high, coupled with the excessive number of home finance, banking competition is too intense and too much money supply, bank management has become very difficult, mergers and acquisitions became one of the fastest way to large-scale banks and international banks to integrate to compete. Examples of mergers and acquisitions in Taiwan and US banks, the merger has its purpose, for some smaller or poorer physical banks, mergers and acquisitions is a great advantage, it will not be eliminated by the market and make Bank more competitive, a country the size of the financial market integrity and with the international financial institutions to compete for economic stability have some help.
