;Organizations rely on teams to solve complex tasks and decision-making problems. While teams are better equipped to handle complex problems than individuals, it is difficult for them to integrate knowledge resources and information scattered across team members. Social interactions among team members makes it possible to convert team knowledge into publicly accessible information. Social capital, defined as the sum of actual and potential resources embedded within, available through, and derived from the network of relationships possessed by an individual or social unit, can affect knowledge integration. This study investigates how the three dimensions of social capital, i.e., structural, relational, and cognitive, are related to transactive memory system (TMS) and then influence knowledge integration. TMS is used to describe collective knowledge management in teams. The study conceptualizes social capital as a social network, thus enabling the investigation of TMS within the framework of interconnected social connections. This study collected data from the top 1,000 manufacturing companies in Taiwan for hypothesis validation. The results substantiate the positive impact of team social capital on the Transactive Memory System (TMS). Furthermore, the findings also demonstrate that two dimensions of TMS - coordination and credibility, positively drive the process of knowledge integration. Finally, based on the results, we provide relevant theoretical and managerial implications.
