    摘要: 長期以來台灣的大學對博士生的傳統訓練是以研究與教學能力為主,因為他們絕大部分畢業後將進入學術界,但在今日知識經濟的時代,企業亦需要大量有高研究能力的博士生幫助他們從事產品研發、生產程序改造與效率提升的工作,因此今日的博士教育內容應與傳統教學方式有別。本研究探討台灣的高等教育在快速成長情況下,今日的博士生所學到的是否能因應產業界之需求,以及他們的就業問題。
    本研究使用師範大學所蒐集臺灣高等教育整合資料庫內的97學年度博士生畢業後一年調查結果作為基礎分析資料,以了解博士生對於目前所學、就業能力、學校對我們就業的幫助。由於師大訪問資料之不足,因此本研究亦發放一份補充問卷以補足師大調查所缺就業相關的一些問題。本研究結果顯示:台灣目前高等教育的內容與目標與社會需求有落差,部份博士生應投入企業協助他們從事研發與提升競爭力的工作,本研究亦發現公立大學資源與設備較私立大學佳,因而私立大學的博士課程被迫走向與企業實務較接近的課程,以增加他們非學術界的就業工作。本研究這些發現也指出為提升未來博士生的就業情況,無論是公私立大學都需要不再以培育博士生進入學術界為唯一目標,應該更注重他們在產業界的發展。; Traditional training of doctoral students at universities has been based on academic research and teaching capabilities, which is mainly because most of them are aimed at enter academia job after graduation. However, as Taiwan move toward a knowledge-based economy, enterprises also need a large number of doctoral students to help them with the product development, efficiency and improvement of production process. Thus, the content of today's doctoral education should differ from traditional one. The purpose of this study is to investigate various employment issues of doctoral students in Taiwan.

    This study is based on a report of the development of the PhD graduates graduating in 97 academic year from the integrated database of Taiwan's higher education, its purpose was to understand what doctoral students learn from school and their employability. Concerning the insufficient parts in the database, questionnaires were distributed to doctoral students at NCU for the purpose of understanding the gap between the ability of doctoral students and their employability. The results show that the content and the goal of higher education in Taiwan need to be changed, and doctoral students should be able to work for enterprises and to help them to improve their competitiveness. Our study also found that public universities enjoyed richer resources and better equipment than private ones, so graduates from public universities show higher employability and competitiveness then graduates from private schools.
