;Taiwan′s state-owned land is an important national resource. How to use the state-owned lands effectively depends on changing in the economic environment and consideration of the living needs. Idle static management does not meet the society′s expectations. The national resources can be effectively used and reduce waste by the following: Review and survey the existing idle space; and improve the utilization benefit of the land.
Cemeteries are located in urban areas, and in addition to causing negative public perception, they are also classified as disliked spaces in public facilities. Revitalize cemeteries with green landscaping, and introduce various functions such as sports, leisure, sightseeing, and education. The transformation of cemeteries into a memorial park can not only provide people with a place for rest and entertainment, but also save the financial expenditure incurred by purchasing land.
This study is based on the two sites: the former address of Taoyuan No. 8 Cemetery (Place 17); and the Fuxing Family Park (Place 16). The design provides a level of creativity: using "The circular cross-bridge design without falling columns" connects the two spaces crossed by Yuda Road into a larger space. It has a quiet environment during the day and displays the indigo-dyed light sculpture night view of Hakka Village. The display space has digital projection for exhibitions, providing a wealth of information materials. The design is inspired by battles in 1895 when ancestors put bamboo forests to use as shelter. Therefore, bamboo is one of the chosen plants for decoration. By mixing historical memory into the design, the park is known as a national-level memorial park.
