;Nowadays, software development teams encounter many challenges, such as frequent and diverse requirement changes and the growing need for cross-functional collaboration. In such highly dynamic development environments, teams must possess the capability to respond to external requirements while formulating comprehensive solutions. Accordingly, software development agility has emerged as an essential core competency for software teams. However, requirement changes usually involve knowledge in different professional fields. When teams face changes in requirements across multiple topics, a timely reassignment of leadership roles appears essential. This need is consistent with the characteristics of the shared leadership model. In conclusion, this study, grounded in dynamic capability theory, seeks to investigate the relationship between shared leadership and absorptive capacity regarding their effect on software development agility. Furthermore, it introduces team familiarity as a moderating variable to assess whether shared leadership structures can effectively enhance teams’ knowledge absorptive capacity.
This research utilizes a paired questionnaire survey method to gather sample data, collecting 166 valid responses from software development teams. The analysis employs the partial least squares method to assess both the structural model and the reliability and validity of the data. The research results indicate that shared leadership positively and significantly influences absorptive capacity. Additionally, absorptive capacity demonstrates a positive correlation with software team response efficiency of software development agility. This research provides both theoretical and practical implications for the exploration of dynamic capability theory and software development agility.
