;This study aims to explore the business model for green energy charging services for electric vehicles (EVs) in Taiwan, focusing on the integration of renewable energy certificate mechanisms and green energy trading platforms to enhance environmental benefits and commercial value in EV usage. With the global push for carbon reduction and energy transition, the adoption of EVs has been steadily increasing. This research concentrates on the Taiwanese market and employs a literature review and business model canvas analysis to propose an innovative green energy charging business model.
The study addresses three primary areas: (1) a literature review of Taiwan’s EV charging development layout, analyzing the current state and policies of EV development in Taiwan; (2) the development of EV charging system technologies, including applications of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Energy Management Systems (EMS), assessing the feasibility of implementing these technologies in the business model; and (3) the operational mechanisms of green energy trading platforms and renewable energy certificates, analyzing their application and value in green energy charging services.
The findings reveal that integrating charging technologies, green energy trading platforms, and renewable energy certificates provides a technically feasible and market-attractive business model. Financial projections indicate that with government subsidies and reasonable pricing strategies, this model could achieve a break-even point within five years and demonstrate long-term viability. Furthermore, promoting green energy charging services can support corporate carbon reduction goals and enhance societal acceptance of renewable energy applications.
This study contributes to the development of Taiwan’s EV and green energy charging market by providing a concrete operational framework and recommendations for future implementation. Additionally, it offers a reference for applying green energy trading platforms and renewable energy certificates, supporting the dual goals of economic profitability and environmental protection.
