The most important critical success factor of an empire or enterprise is people. This research compares four Chinese ancient classic books including Zizhi Tongjian, Zhen Guan Zheng Yao, Chang-Duan Jing, and Han Feizi with four modern management books in field of how to recognize and appoint the highest level manager. The result of this research is that the leader of an enterprise should attach importance to recognizing, employing the right people, and being well suited with his/her place. Besides, leaders must realize the difference between “general manager” and “specialist” to make enterprise successful.
